Analysis of the Impulse Radiating Antenna Everett

چکیده
One form of Impulse Radiating Antenna (IRA) combines the technologies of the Balanced Transmission-line Wave (BTW) sensor with TEM-fed paraboloidal reflector antennas. The behavior of the IRA was calculated using a combination of the Method of Moments, using the NEC Code, and Geometrical Optics. The results of NEC compare favorably to both high and low frequency asymptotes. The frequency domain results were driven by an inverse double exponential step function, in order to find the time domain radiated far field. . >., . b

Design Principles of Half Impulse Radiating Antennas
A candidate design for radiating single-ended, high-voltage, fast transient signals is to use a Half Impulse Radiating Antema. This design avoids the mismatch that sometimes occurs in designs that require a balun or geometry conversion. We consider here the design principles involved in this antenna, including the F/D ratio, and whether or not to offset the paraboloidal feed. In addition, we co...
متن کاملPrepulse Associated with the TEM Feed of an Impulse Radiating Antenna
The field radiated fit)m an impulse radiating antenna (HL4) utilizing a reflector and driver by a step-function source consists of three distinct parts. First, there is a prepulse, which looks ikc a step function, and lasts for a time equal to twice the electrical length of the feed. Following this comes the actual impulse-like waveform. Finally, there is a small tail that appears after the imp...

We describe here a 1.52 m (5 ft.) diameter Impulse Radiating Antenna (IRA) for use in a high-voltage radar system that uses a single antenna and a directional coupler. This antenna, designated the IRA-6, was designed to operate at 30 kV. To accommodate the higher voltage, we introduced a number of new features, including a larger-diameter 100-ohm cable, cable stubs at the feed point, and gaps i...

., When designing a reflector Impulse Radiating Antenna, one must choose an appropriate feed impedance. Using the simplest approximations valid for high feed impedances, one finds that lower feed impedances are always prcfcrablc. However, low feed impedances imply thick feed arms, which incrcasc feed blockage for many designs, thus reducing the radiated field. Low feed impedances also lead to a...

We continue here our investigation of Solid Dielectric Lens Impulse Radiating Antennas (SDL IRAs), which are intended for Ultra-Wideband, high-voltage radiation from the front end of an electrically conducting cylindrical shroud. This device is intended to radiate the highest possible field from the smallest possible aperture using the highest possible source voltage. Furthermore, this antenna ...
